Angolan Buyer Visits TIANHUA Traffic for EN 1871 Road Marking Supply

Angolan Buyer Visits TIANHUA Traffic for EN 1871 Road Marking Supply

An Angolan road-marking project customer used an AI-assisted search to compare Chinese thermoplastic road marking paint manufacturers. The customer was directed to TIANHUA Traffic's website, reviewed its products and manufacturing information, and then left an inquiry after deciding that the company could support a complete road-marking materials project.

TIANHUA Traffic responded quickly and assigned an international sales representative to the inquiry. After about one week of technical and commercial communication, the customer decided to visit China in person. TIANHUA Traffic issued an invitation letter, the customer completed the visa process and flew to Zhengzhou, where International Sales Director Alan Xie met the customer at Xinzheng International Airport.

The visit developed into a detailed discussion about Angola's climate and road conditions, the local road-marking market, the use of TIANHUA Traffic products in African projects and the technical requirements for the customer's bill of quantities. The proposed supply includes thermoplastic road marking paints for spray and manual application, bi-directional road studs with shanks and adhesive for fixing the studs to asphalt or concrete.

How an AI-Assisted Search Led to a Factory Visit

The customer's first step was an online search for reliable Chinese manufacturers of thermoplastic road marking paint. Instead of making a decision from a single product photograph or a short quotation, the customer reviewed TIANHUA Traffic's website, product range, factory information, export experience and road-marking equipment capabilities.

The website review gave the customer a clearer picture of TIANHUA Traffic as an integrated manufacturer of road-marking materials and application equipment. The customer then submitted an inquiry with a specific project quantity and a list of required European and international standards.

TIANHUA Traffic treated the inquiry as a project discussion rather than a standard catalogue request. The international sales team clarified the application methods, colours, quantities, road-stud requirements, documentation, delivery destination and commercial terms. After several rounds of communication, the customer decided that an in-person assessment would be the most efficient next step.

Airport Pickup and Management Meeting in Zhengzhou

After receiving the invitation letter, the customer completed the visa application and travelled to China. Alan Xie met the customer at Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport and accompanied the customer to TIANHUA Traffic.

At the company, the customer met TIANHUA Traffic's general manager. The meeting began with a practical exchange about Angola's climate, road construction environment, local business conditions and the requirements faced by contractors working on road infrastructure projects.

The parties also discussed the development of the road-marking market in Angola and the performance of TIANHUA Traffic products in African applications. Topics included high-temperature conditions, road surface differences, application equipment, material storage, supply continuity and after-sales communication.

The meeting then moved to the project bill of quantities. The customer explained that the supplied materials must be assessed against the specified EN and international requirements and that the commercial proposal should include a complete technical and quality file.

Factory Director Zhu Explains the Applicable Standards

Factory Director Zhu gave the customer a detailed explanation of TIANHUA Traffic's thermoplastic road marking paint, including the relationship between formulation, application method, physical properties and road performance.

TIANHUA Traffic explained that product formulations can be arranged around the customer's specified requirements and project standards. Depending on the final technical specification, the company can prepare thermoplastic road marking paint for standards such as EN 1871, AASHTO M249, BS 3262 and JT/T 280. The final report set, test basis and certification documents will be confirmed against the exact product, application method and contract requirements.

For the Angola project, the customer's main request was EN 1871 for the physical properties of the thermoplastic materials, together with EN 1436 performance classes for road-marking visibility, colour and skid resistance. The customer also requested EN 1463 documentation for the road studs and a suitable technical basis for the stud adhesive.

Paint and Road Stud Requirements for the Angola Project

Spray-application thermoplastic paint

The project includes white and yellow thermoplastic paint for spray application. The customer wants the white material assessed under EN 1871 and EN 1436 classes for retroreflectivity and skid resistance. The yellow material must also be checked for the required colour coordinates and luminance factor.

Screed or manual-application thermoplastic paint

The third paint item is white thermoplastic material for screed or manual application. This formulation must support a durable line when applied with the specified manual or screed process. Application temperature, line thickness, drying behaviour, surface preparation and glass-bead application will be confirmed before production.

Bi-directional road studs with shank

The yellow and white road studs are required to include a shank and support two-way visibility. The customer requested EN 1463-1 and EN 1463-2 documentation, with Type A/B and retroreflector Type 1/2 information included in the technical file.

Adhesive for asphalt and concrete

The project also requires adhesive for installing the road studs. The customer requested a bituminous or epoxy solution with high shear strength on both asphalt and concrete. TIANHUA Traffic will confirm the final adhesive type, hot-application conditions, surface-preparation instructions and applicable test documents with the project team.

Commercial Proposal Requested Under Three Incoterms

To compare the complete supply cost, the customer asked TIANHUA Traffic to structure the quotation under three Incoterms. The final offer will show the product price, packaging, loading, inland transport and ocean-freight assumptions separately where necessary.

Quotation basis Customer's requested delivery point Information to clarify
EXW TIANHUA Traffic's agreed factory or warehouse Ex-works price, packing, collection arrangements and handover conditions.
FOB Agreed Chinese export port Export handling, port charges included in the offer and loading point.
CIF Luanda Port Luanda Port, Angola Ocean freight, insurance basis, estimated transit time and destination-port exclusions.

The customer also requested clarification of payment terms, such as advance T/T or letter of credit, together with the total production and delivery lead time for the complete order.

Technical Documents and Quality Assurance

Because the project is intended for long-term infrastructure supply, the customer asked for a complete technical and quality package with the quotation. The requested documents include:

  • Technical Data Sheets (TDS) for each paint, road stud and adhesive product;
  • Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS) for applicable chemical products;
  • test reports supporting the specified EN 1871 and EN 1436 requirements;
  • EN 1463-1 and EN 1463-2 documents for the road studs;
  • applicable CE marking certificates or declarations for the relevant products;
  • factory ISO 9001 quality-management certification;
  • factory ISO 14001 environmental-management certification;
  • representative batch COAs and product traceability information; and
  • storage, application, packaging, loading and transport instructions.

TIANHUA Traffic will align the documentation with the final bill of quantities and the approved technical specification. The customer can then compare the commercial offer and the quality file together instead of evaluating price separately from performance and compliance.

Three Days of Production and Shipment from Qingdao

Alan Xie told the customer that TIANHUA Traffic has experience coordinating export orders from technical confirmation through production, quality inspection, packing, customs documentation and shipment. Once the formula, colours, packaging and documentation are approved, the planned production time for this order is approximately three days.

After production and inspection, TIANHUA Traffic plans to arrange shipment from Qingdao Port. The estimated sea transit time to Luanda Port is approximately 45 days, subject to vessel schedules, transshipment arrangements, port conditions and customs procedures.

Export Support and On-Site Engineering Assistance

TIANHUA Traffic explained that its support can cover the full export process, including product selection, standard review, quotation, sample coordination, production planning, inspection documents, packing, shipping and after-sales communication.

If the Angola project requires help during installation, TIANHUA Traffic can also discuss sending an engineer to the project site to guide the application of the thermoplastic paint, the use of road-marking equipment, glass-bead application, surface preparation and road-stud installation. The scope, schedule and cost of any site service would be agreed in the commercial contract.

This combination of materials, equipment knowledge and technical follow-up is important for a project that includes both road markings and raised pavement markers. The result depends on the compatibility of the material, application method, road surface, equipment settings and site conditions.

A Long-Term Manufacturing Partnership for Angola

The Angolan customer said that the visit gave him a clearer understanding of TIANHUA Traffic's manufacturing organization and export capability. The customer is now evaluating the technical file and commercial offer for the complete bill of quantities.

For TIANHUA Traffic, this project is an opportunity to support an Angola road-marking program with a coordinated supply of paint, road studs, adhesive and technical assistance. The next steps are to confirm the final specifications, submit the complete offer, review the required documents and agree on the production and delivery schedule.

By combining a direct factory review with a detailed BOQ and standards discussion, both sides have a practical basis for moving forward. TIANHUA Traffic will continue to provide responsive communication and a clear production plan as the customer completes its evaluation.
